After serving in the U.S. Army (1969-1973), Jim earned a PhD in Marine Geology from the U. of Miami. During his over three decades in both academics and industry, he published on numerous aspects of marine and environmental geology and on the interactions of the U.S. petroleum industry to climate change. In 2005, Jim joined VFP in Houston, TX where he led numerous protests against the Iraq and Afghan wars. In 2019, Jim was cofounder of VFP’s Climate Crisis and Militarism Project and, more recently, was “trail boss” of WAKE UP to CLIMATE CRISIS & NO MAS tour.
